Hakone

This mountainous town famous for hot springs and great views of Mount Fuji which located in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Some of the popular attraction here includes Cruise on Lake Ashi, Hakone Ropeway and an Open Air Museum. The key sightseeing, their include.

Odawara Castle

This three tiered, five storied castle was rebuilt in 1960. It exhibits the history of the castle and also displays swords and armour. From the top one can enjoy beautiful view of Odawara.

The Hakone Open-Air Museum

This outdoor sculpture gallery spread across 70,000 square meters was opened in 1969 and has more than 120 sculptures spread across the ground. Here there is also Picasso’s Pavilion which has around 319 Picasso’s work.

Hakone Gora Park

This French styled landscape garden located above Gora Station has a large fountain, a rose garden and 2 greenhouses. There is also a craft house where visitors can take part in craft activities.

Hakone Tozan Railway

One of Japan’s few mountain railways, where the tourists ride through wonderful villages while enjoying beautiful views of nature. Its runs from Hakone Yumoto Station to Gora Station. It makes the way up the steep mountains by using switchback system.

Hakone Ropeway

Part of Hakone Round Course, this ropeway connects Sounzan Station with Togendai Station via Owakudani and takes around 30 minutes to complete the course. During the ride, on clear days the guests can enjoy views of active sulfuric hot spring sources of the Owakudani Valley; Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fuji.

Owakudani

One of the most famous view points in Hakone where one can observe intense volcanic activity from close. Due to volcanic gases, the area is sometimes closed to public, so check before you go. The main volcanic area is about a 10-minute walk from Owakudani Station.

Hakone Shrine

Hakone’s most famous Shinto Shrine is hidden behind the dense forests along the shores of lake Ashinoko.

Hakone Sightseeing Cruise

This 25 to 40 minute cruise connects cruise from Togendai-ko to Hakone-machi-ko/Moto-Hakone-ko.  During the ride, there will be a spot where the visitors can view Mt. Fuji, the red torii gate of Hakone Shrine and the lake all at once.
